Agriculture & Farming
The tractor and field in the mural represent the agricultural heartbeat of our community and entire county.
Walworth County — and its county seat, Elkhorn — rests on rolling, fertile terrain where nearly half the land remains in agricultural production. The region is a major producer of corn, soybeans, and hay, with significant dairy and forage operations supporting local livestock.
A growing number of farms also embrace specialty and direct-market crops like vegetables, fruits, meat, poultry, and cheese sales, enhancing local agritourism and farm-to-table offerings.
With strong support from UW-Extension and the Farm Service Agency in Elkhorn, local agriculture balances tradition with innovation, sustaining livelihoods and contributing to the county's rural character.
