About the Elkhorn Mural Project

💡 How It Began

The Elkhorn Mural Project began when a generous local resident made a donation to the Elkhorn Chamber Foundation in 2024 to support beautification efforts for downtown Elkhorn. The Someplace Else restaurant façade at 3 West Walworth Street was prioritized for its central location in the heart of downtown.

Over a 15-month planning process, stakeholders secured municipal support, selected an artist, found additional sponsors, and collaborated on a design that would capture the spirit of Elkhorn and its surrounding community.

🎨 The Mural

Unveiled on May 17, 2025, the mural stretches 45 feet wide by 15 feet tall. It was hand-painted onto aluminum panels by artist Troy Freeman of FreeSky Studios and carefully affixed to the building — preserving the 1880s-era historic brick structure beneath.

🎭 About the Artist — Troy Freeman
